My scanner keeps coming up as Scannername #2 and now #3.
Is there anyway to remove the existance of the first two
so I can plug it in and it will just say:
Scnanername
Thanks ahead of time,

If you keep plugging it into different USB ports, this tends to happen. But,
does it affect your scanner? NO!
Either don't worry about it or make a diagram of where you have what plugged
in!

The scanner no longer works when I do this. It says that
it cannot detect it. Yet it detects it just fine when I
plug it in.

OK!
I had that problem about 1 year ago when I first connected my scanner. It
would seldom, if ever, be recognized. I always had to unplug/plug in the
scanner for it to work (but I always plugged it back into the same port).
I updated my scanner drivers from the manufacturers web site and have not
had a problem since. I can go for a month between uses and, when I initiate
a scan, it works!
