no sound

Hello I have tried posting this question on 2 differnt forums and still receive no answer....When I try to play music from my music folder there is no sound. I have checked and rechecked to make sure the speakers are connected properly. I was getting sound
until a couple of days ago but have not done anything different. Does anyone have some specific suggestions?
