Reversed keys on keyboard

I know this is really stupid, but after reinstalling Windows XP Pro recently
I am finding that my @ and " symbols are reversed and the English pound
sign gives me #. I cannot remember how to correct these key functions,
although I have done it before.

Greetings --

Start > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options, make sure
that "Standards and formats" and "Location" are correct. Start >
Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages > Details >
Default Input Language.
