View Full Version : power management tab missing

I am troubleshooting a standby problem with a new
wireless mouse. The manufacturer says to ensure that a
specific setting is enabled in the Power Management tab
in device manager for this mouse. The Pwr Management tab
is not on the device manager at all. I know that Power
Management is enabled in my BIOS, and I can do an S3
suspend no problem. I'm running XP pro.
How do I get the pwr mgmt tabs to show up in device
manager?
Also, the problem I'm having with the mouse is pretty
interesting. I can tell the system to go to standby, and
it will turn off the hard disk. But it leaves power to
the motherboard and fans on (even though my BIOS dictates
a suspend to RAM (S3)) until I tap the mouse slightly.
Then everything shuts down like it should. Any ideas how
to fix this? Mouse clicking resumes from standby as
usual.

Also, here's a tip for those that may not know: don't do
power settings in the Operating System and the BIOS.
Choose only one place to do it either the BIOS or the OS
or you may cause a conflict.

Yes, regardless of whether I use the XP driver or the
logitech software, there is no power management tab in
the device mgr.

You looked, of course, under "mice and other pointing devices", correct?
