i recently purchased an "empty" computer and have to
install my own operating system i want to install the
windows xp i had recently bought and had put on my old
computer. is this possible.
the old computer is no longer in use. please if anyone can
help me i sure would appreciate it.

Yes you can, as long it is uninstalled from the other computer.

Have you tried installing it on the other computer?
what were the results?
And is it an OEM or retail version?
If its been over 120 days you sould be able
to install and activate with no problems.

Greetings --
Assuming a retail license, simply remove WinXP from the computer
it is currently on, and install it onto the new one. If it's been
more than 120 days since you last activated that specific Product Key,
you'll most likely be able to activate via the Internet without
problem. If it's been less, you might have to make a 5 minute phone
call.
