error on windows media player

my media player will not play anything at all, its telling
me i may not have a sound device .
but infact the player was working yesturday, my friend
played a new dvd on it this morning and i was wondering if
its changed any of the settings.

could someone help plse

I had this same problem all of a sudden. It worked one minute, then stopped
working. Turned out the sound card just "died" on me. You'll need to
troubleshoot the soundcard and see if you can get any sound out of it.
