HD suddenly is corrupt or unreadable

Well... i can't use any scandisk or diskdoctor programs to
try and fix it because even thought the BIOS and Disk
Management both say the hard drive is ok it will only read
as "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable".
How do i start up the Pre-Windows XP scandisk and do you
have any more suggestions other that reformat. Thnx

Yes. Use the tools that are native to Windows XP. Scandisk IS NOT.

Use chkdsk instead!
