View Full Version : Update 811493

Hi
This new upgrade hit my PC yesterday and I had exactly the
same problems as the last time it came! but now I am even
worse off!
I allowed the upgrade to install (stupid, I know!) and
immediately my PC started to 'freeze' every 2-5 minutes.
Since last time I have however installed a small hoem
network so I didn't allow this upgrade onto my other pc.
I de-installed the upgrade (and the other upgrade that
apparently requires 811493) and then proceeded to run
Norton Win Doctor to ensure all was OK.
I have 2 hard drives on my PC; one where I maintain my
data and one that holds my programs. Norton got itself
into a serious loop and I had continuous read/write errors
onto my data drive. I hade to turn off my PC to stop win
doctor and then I now find XP can't 'see' my data hard
drive!
I am in a real stew at the moment and am not best pleased
with MICROSHAFT to say the least.

Don't blame Microsoft. Many of us have downloaded and installed thhe old and
new 811493 without any problem what so ever. Why don't you delete all the
virus programs from your machine, update it to the latest level, debug it if
needed then reinstall your virus programs if you deem it to be necessary.

It sounds like you have a variety of other issues with your PC. Do you =
have Norton System Works? If so, run the one button checkup.
How about resource hogging spyware? Have you checked your PC for that =
lately? You can download SpyBot, it's free. It will clear out the =
spyware for you.

Hi
I ran the 'one button check' and then started to
get 'write failures' on my data drive (never had that
before)!
