I've recently reinstalled XP Home on my PC. Since doing this my
Intellimouse Explorer freezes momemtarily for no apparent reason every
now and then. When I reinstalled XP I reformatted the drive, and I
have since downloaded the lastest mouse drivers from Microsoft so I'm
pretty sure there are no old drivers hanging around causing havoc.
I've had this problem before with my Intellimouse (on differnt
computers to). The first time I exchanged it for a replacement. The
2nd time I stopped using it on USB. The third time a reinstallation
of Windows cured it... Now I've had my fill of fighting with the damn
thing. Life ia to short for a buggy mouse!
Microsoft recommend that the mouse is slowed down, but I like my mouse
fast. I like to be able to get from one corder of the screen to the
other by moving the mouse no more than an inch.
So I've decided to replace it. The problem is that apart from this
small but blood boiling problem I actually like the mouse. So I was
wondering if the new breed of them are prone to this problem? I'm
thinking of the ones that have double the sensing rate of the
originals, the ones that sense 6000 times a second instead of the
current 3000 one I have?
If they do not suffer this glitch then I'd like to get one.
If its likely to suffer the same problem I'm going to try another
brand, I just dont have the energy to fight with this. A mouse should
just work, like keyboards do and require zero effort! Any suggestions
for an alternative in this case?
TIA,
Colin
