View Full Version : Screen Size

I always have to hit maximize to get the page to fill up
my screen. This happens all the time.
Thanks

Hi Lou,
This is a common workaround - note that IE usually opens at the same size
that the last window was closed at.
Open just one IE window to the small size. Grab the corners and stretch it
to the maximum size. Do NOT use the maximize button. Then depress and hold
the <ctrl> key and close the window by using file/exit, not the "x" in the
corner.
IE should now open in the full window. If not, try again, this time using
the <shift> key.

Lou,
Just 'Pull' the edges outward, and hopefully next time you go back to that
program, it will remember to go to full size.
By pull, place the cursor, at the top, bottom, left, right, one side at a
time, and while pressing the the left key on the mouse, the screen can be
dragged inwards and outwards.
The curser changes to a line with two arrow heads.

Hi, Carl.
There are several ways to open a "DOS" window. The "look and feel" might
vary, depending on which method is used each time. Since I use "DOS" a lot,
I have an icon on my Desktop and in my Quick Launch toolbar. And I've set
its shortcut key to Ctrl+Alt+M (for MS-DOS) so that, no matter what I have
running, I can open a new or existing "DOS" window from the keyboard
instantly.
Right-click on the Command Prompt icon and click Properties. You should see
a window with several tabs (General, Shortcut, Options, etc.) for other
windows that let you customize it to suit yourself - or your friend. Full
screen is a setting under Display Options on the Options tab.
To run my favorite legacy DOS program (the Calendar from WordPerfect
Office), I've created a shortcut which runs its executable
(C:\off30cal\cl.exe on my system). In Properties for that shortcut, there
are similar tabs for setting screen size, fonts, etc., that apply only to
that particular program, not to my main "DOS" window. He should be able to
customize FoxPro to suit himself, too. It's sort of like the old PIF files
that we used to create back in DesQView and Windows 3.1 days.

Hi, John.
When you "jump into a thread", please copy at least enough of the thread so
that we get some context. :>(
But, if I understand what you are trying to ask, maybe I can help.
Right-click on the icon for the Command Prompt (or your shortcut) and click
Properties. You should see a screen with several tabs that will let you
adjust the size, colors, fonts, etc., for your "DOS" window. The exact
options and appearance of the Properties window varies, depending on just
how you have things set up, but you should be able to find what you need.

With my new box, running XP and 17inch flat screen I get a full screen DOS
at about 50 lines. How can I set it to 25 lines to have my DOS programs
running full screen?
