I have a new laptop running XP Home and need to activate it.
I have downloaded the instructions at:-
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;307890
But the activation icon is not where the article says that it should be, and
I can't find it anywhere else.
Can someone point me to a better article covering activation, or tell me how
to do it.
TIA

Alternatively, you can open the Windows Product Activation Wizard
by clicking Start, then Run, and then typing: oobe/msoobe /a
and hit "enter".
Many preinstalled versions of Windows XP do not require activation
since the installation media is BIOS-locked to a specfic model PC,
thus it cannot be installed on any other PC.
