Switch your monitor off by it's own switch. Make sure the monitors light
goes off then switch it back on and it should work. It just sounds as though
your monitor didn't recognise the wake up command. Please reply to the group
if it works or if I have misunderstood your question.

I just reread your post and am not sure if you mean your computer didn't
start up after sleep mode. If your computer won't start after going to sleep
mode and you have tried all the normal things like pressing keys on keyboard
or mouse buttons or power button on computer etc then switch the computer
off by the main power supply either by unplugging it from the wall or you
might find a switch on the back of the pc power supply. Also turn off the
monitor by it's own power switch or by unplugging it from the wall. Leave
everything switched off for a minute then plug both computer and monitor
back in and switch it all back on.

If it all powers up you might need to check your bios settings to make sure
your computer accepts powering up from keyboard or mouse after sleep mode.
If I have completely misunderstood your post please repost with more info if
no one else answers with correct instructions.

I had this problem with my system as well. It turned out that the XP was trying
to put my system into what is referred to as S1 state (basically the CPU is
halted but power is still on RAM and other components are put to sleep). My
system does not support S1 only S3 (all components are shutdown but power is
still on the RAM). When I would boot up, I would get a black screen. I would
have to hit the reset button to make the system reset the components. In the
Event Viewer, there would always be a couple of occurrences of the nvidia driver
not having a sync of some sort.

I found others having problems (on other mainboad NG's) which were resolved by
downloading and running dumppo.exe. This program does something to XP to
"correct" the supported sleep states to reflect what the motherboard truly
supports.

Personally, I think that XP is incorrectly detecting a few things during
installation. For example, on my motherboard, not only did it think the board
could do S1 but also thought it is a dual processor board with only one CPU.
However, if I try to do a repair installation (one of the many Critical Updates
hosed my system to the point it would not even boot into Safe Mode) I could only
select "Standard PC" instead of any of the ACPI types of computers. I had to
manually change the HAL to get the correct one back.
