troubles with my laptop screen

i have just installed my windows xp profesional edition
operating system in my laptop. i though the installation
process was fine until i realized my screen didnt show
anything after the windows xp logo. the thing is i can
hear how my system is loading but i can't see
anything...what couold it be?

You don't have the correct drivers installed for the graphics card or
onboard graphics chip.

If you press F8 on startup, there should be an option for Safe Mode (which
is VGA and doesn't need specific graphics drivers). Once in Safe Mode, you
can then install the correct drivers, you should find them on the website of
your notebook manufacturer.
