can not use sp1 did download it, not from windows update.
tried to install it,would not load. it said can not set
up on your xp pro it is not build 2600. i have looked at
the build it is 2526. help

Joe;
Build 2526 is Release Candidate 2.
All licenses to use the Beta and Release Candidates expired almost 2
years ago when Windows XP was released for sale.
I suggest you buy a legal Windows XP or any other operating system you
want to install.

Go to Start > Run and type: WINVER , and hit enter.

If "Version 5.1 (Build 2600) is not shown, you are running a
beta version of XP for which there is no update support. If
that's the case, you need to reformat your drive and install
the released version of XP, after purchasing it.
