Is there any way to create a WindowsXP setup disc like the origional after
slipstreaming the files with SP1a?

A slipstream version is created and burned to a new CD. You need to find
the original Windows XP CD.

I have my origional disc, copied all the files to the hard drive and ran SP1
using the -s switch on the folder containing all the origional files. Where
do I go from here? Is there a switch that will create an image?

Dennis--
If I understand this correctly, these links will help you. You can
slipstream XP SP1 or SP1a, and you can slipstream with the Hotfix Rollup
KB826939. as well, and you could slipstream with the public beta SP2 RC1
although I would wait on the latter until MSFT releases the final SP2 in a
couple months or so. There will be plenty of sites to aid in this:
See these:
