couldn't play movies in windvd

hi. I have installed windows xp professional in my
system. iam unable to play windvd (movie files) it
says "create overlay failed change screen resolution or
colour depth and try again" i changed the screen
resolution and even the colour depth but iam unable to
view movies in windvd. somebody please suggest me a way
out
