I'm not a professional (yet) but usually an "I/O device error" will occur after you've installed new hardware like a new hard drive or just a webcam. If you've installed something new, is it possible to try uninstalling it and trying again? Make sure you c
an reinstall it before you do of course. Perhaps that will help.
