Hello..even though my Win XP Pro lap top obtains the internet/email (just fine) from a wireless router connection attached to my Win 98 desktop, the XP Pro lap top cannot see the Win 98 desktop or its attached serial cable printer in order to install it. Nor can the laptop "ping" the desktop's IP address and get a response. On the Win 98 desktop, the attached printer is sharred and the PC named. What might be going on to cause this? thnx...neil

Is the Shared Name of the Printer less than 12 characters/numbers and with
no spaces in it?
Can you connect to it via \\Win98\Printer
(where Win98 is the Name of the Windows98 PC and Shared is the name of the
printer)
