I'm working on a Windows XP install that sees devices, but
does not prompt the user to install drivers for the
device. If you attach a USB device to the system, such as
a mouse, printer or monitor, the Device Manager shows the
device, but there is no prompting for the drivers at any
point. It simply shows up in the Device Manager as either
an unknown device or something similar to what it actually
is, along with the yellow exclamation point. You can
install the drivers for that device manually, but this
isn't an option. Besides, once the USB device moves to
another USB connection, then you have to reinstall the
devices drivers again. The whole point of "PnP" is
defeated then.
Another issue is the Display Properties only show the
Theme and no other tabs are available.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
