I have an IBM clone, custom built with AMD processor,
running Window XP. (800mHz chip, 256 RAM)

since it was new, the Pc will actually just reboot itself
for NO reason! I can just be there reading something in a
a browser window and it just start the reboot process all
by itself!!!

It will even do it with no inter-action on the system at
all. Example, You leave the PC on, come back later and it
has rebooted itself.

Do to a virus, I have completly re-installed XP
(unrelated) So, I know its not software or windows?

I took it back to the shop that built it and they cannot
find out why it does this and have no explanation.

(Yes, I have check for a loose power cord and changed it)

It reboots, not powers down!

It seems to be getting more frequent. The PC is about 1
year old.

This can be ultra frustrating while trying to work, as I
work from my home. I loose data frequently because of
this.

Help!!! Anybody!!!

Does it get more frequent the longer the computer is on? It could be that
something is overheating. Or you could very well have one of the cursed
motherboards with bad capacitors.

did you run a virus scan and clean off the system? Just because you
reinstalled XP doesn't mean that it's gone.

And the power supply thing could apply too. Intermittent power supply
brown-out could cause a PC to reboot.
