I agree. Because of capacitors storing electricity, DO NOT OPEN THE POWER
SUPPLY! Even if is unpluged, you could still get a shock, although I am not
sure of the severity/

Power supply manufacturer's discourage repairing power
supplies, even replacing a bad fan. A novice like Quang
should not attempt your suggestion (though it was well-intended).

| Or if you're Power Supply saavy try this.
|
| Look at the back of your PC when you turn it on. Is the fan turning? No?
| Unplug and take out the power supply. Go to your local PC parts store and
| buy a fan that fits. Take it home and replace the fan. Reinstall the
power
| supply and plug in. Start the computer. If the new fan turns then you
just
| saved yourself lots of dough by not having a technician charge you to
check
| this. If the air is hot and it's beeping and shutting down then it's not
a
| question of if but when the tech will suggest replacing the power supply.
|
| I replaced the fan in mine and the fan cost 3 bucks. Much better than
| paying $50-75 for a new power supply plus labor to install it.
