Hi,
I made changes to my registry. Prior to the changes I exported the registry
and gave it a new name..After making changes to the registry, I didn't get
the results that I wanted so I imported my saved registry to regedit. There
were no changes made to the registry. The keys were the same as previously
edited and not restored to the old keys. Is there a special way to do this?
Or is my OS simply not working as it should? Any help would be appreciated.
I can't find any thing different than what I am doing in Microsoft Support.
Thanks. Jo
P.S. I ended up doing a restore..but I thought I was supposed to be able to
import and export the registry without restoring.

Indeed the registry backup method you used should have worked.
Did you receive any errors while backing up or restoring that you
dismissed???

Thanks Ray..No errors reported. It appeared like it worked but the keys were
missing...this is so weird...Jo
When I import the registry, do I have to change the name somehow? I don't
remember ever doing that before....

Generally the process is just you select the level in the tree and i think
everything below it gets saved. You just then export giving it a file.reg
To restore it, double click on the file and it should ask if you wish to
import it or click file>import in regedit.
If thats not working then i cannot suggest any cause.
