Just updated my System
added Abit NF7-S Rev 2.0 Bios 1.6
New WD 120G w 8meg cache

Clean install of Windows XP home SP1
All Drivers updated for all devices
Now my Sony DRU-500A is junk
I've tried 3 different DVD burning software none can
recognize the -RW or +RW blank disc If I try to format disc
it ejects it and says to intall a disc?
"My DVD" tells me the media is read only

This DVD worked Fine before I aded the new MB and
reinstalled windows
at 1st thought it might be the Motherboard / drivers
but now it appears to be due to the XP reinstall

any Ideas?
Bios correctly identifies DVD player it's correctly
connected as master on IDE2
but like someone else said on the newsgroup
under my computer its drive letter D: and it says its a
DVD-R

Mathaiu,

Yes flashed to latest firmware 2.0f
This drive writes to +R +RW -R and -RW
using latest Versions of Veratis=20
"My DVD" also tried Nero and I use Pinnacle Studio 8 Delue
which can burn to DvD also
None of them see the media as recordable
Yes I'm using media that worked before

If I insert a data backup disc and double click the drive=20
letter it opens a window and says "insert disc"
If I click on "format" it spits the disc out and says=20
inset disc

When I use Veratis MyDVD and try to record a file to a new=20
disc it ejects my disc and says Not "this disc is read=20
only"

Tried DVD-R DVD-RW New disc, old saved backup disc
nothing works :(
