Hello!

I have a Compaq Presario 1212CL laptop which has Toshiba DVD-ROM drive.
I installed Windows XP Professional.
The DVD-Drive can read CDs but not DVDs (not movie DVD but just data file
DVD).
I contacted Compaq and they told me to install WinDVD.
After installation, I can read the data files on DVD.
Is it normal?
Do I need to install software to read data files on DVD?
I thought the DVD software is for decoding DVD movies.

Please teach me.

TIA
Sam

Your data DVD probably is recorded in UDF filesystem format newer than WinXP
recognize,
and WinDVD updated the UDF driver.
