What is this "Kernell" thing all about.
Secondly Is it possible to Upload files to the internet
form your Cdrom (Non cdwriter)and how. thanks

i can answer your second question, yes you can upload things to the internet
using your cd rom all you will have do first is copy the contents from the
cd rom to your hard drive, then use whatever method you use for uploading to
the net.

The kernel is the basic software that is needed to run any OS on your
computer.

The kernel is the central part of the Operating System. It contains
code that is 'essential' for the operation of the operating system.
For Windows XP, the kernel is located in
c:\Windows\System32\Kernel32.dll

Linux also has a Kernel and although is bigger than Windows, you can
add and remove functionality to the kernel with new or updated
components. Hence, the need to 'recompile' the Kernel.

With Windows 2005 or Longhorn, Microsoft will make the Kernel more
component based like Linux so 3rd party companies can customise
Windows more!
