HI Jim -

I have spent the better part of a day trying to find the actual downloadable
EXE driver file for my HP all-in-one printer, with no luck. Additionally, I
have had no luck extracting or otherwise locating the drivers on the XP CD.

I'm totally stuck.

Neither one of these suggested links at HP allow the user to just download
the drivers! They are nowhere to be found.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Folks -

I have a Dell demension xps machine with an HP all-in-one
printer/fax/flatbed scanner, and everything's been working great. But about
two months ago I upgraded from Windows 2000 to Windows XP by doing a clean
install of XP on a formatted drive.

The printer model : HP officejet r80xi

After loading Xp, the printer worked fine (it's drivers are supposedly
included in XP in fact). The trouble started a few weeks later when I tried
to scan something. First, I noticed that the little HP scan application that
came with the machine was no longer on it.... and tried to mess around with
the cryptic scan app that I beleive was included with XP... anyway, one
thing led to another and I screwed up the drivers... and managed to get
things so nothing worked! Great.

So, being fairly techically competent - and checking the HP site - I assumed
I could just delete the device from device manager, powerdown, power up and
the whole thing would self configure the drivers for the HP automatically.

Well, it seems to... but after finding the new hardware, and letting windows
configure it automatically... now I get an error before it finishes
configuring saying something to the effect that windows was unable to
configure it... blah blah blah.

Now I'm stuck. Any suggestions?

My guess is I somehow crossloaded so bad or old drivers for this device. Any
idea how I should proceed?

Thanks for any help

Tom

ps. While i realize a full set of drivers for my HP officejet r80xi is on
the XP CD, I can't seem to browse to the file anywhere on the cd... is there
some type of extraction I need to do to reveal the drivers tha tare on the
CD?

Go to http://www.hp.com, go to support and drivers, tick download
drivers and software, enter the model and series of your all-in-one
(example; k80 officejet)there is a 59.99mb file that you can download
that has the drivers and software for your all-in-one or there is a
place on the same page that you can order the cd for your all-in-one,
which by the way is $10.55 including shipping, or you can pay more
shipping and handling and have it in a day or two.

I should have said in my previous post..... That you need to
download the Win2000 drivers instead. (5.26MB download) The XP
drivers are one in the same according. Anyway, go to the web URL
address I gave you and instead click on the Win2000 option. Then
choose the English version. Sorry about the confusion.
