View Full Version : Boot up problem

System is custom built Soyo K7ADA MB w/Athlon 1600XP
processor running XP Pro. System was working fine until a
few days ago. Now when I press the power switch the fans
come on, the lights light up, the HDD runs but I get no
beeps and the monitor doesn't come on. After a minute or
so the HDD light goes off but everything else keeps
running. If I then press the Reset button I get a single
beep and the system boots up and operates normal. I have
replaced the video card (installed in another slot),
swapped monitors, and checked the power supply voltages.
All of the voltages were good. I put an ohm meter across
the power switch and it checked good. Any help will be
greatly appreciated.

Before replacing anything else and wasting more money, take it to a
reputable computer store to see if they can fix the problem.
Could be loose cables, overheating CPU, bad motherboard... anything.
Does the BIOS screen show?
