Hello
Well I have that same mother brd and I did 1 thing, update
the Bios but, prior to that it worked fine right out of the box
and I have no problem. I updated the Bios later and still
working great to this day. Not sure what to tell you, but
have you tried the other controller.
Or maybe try using the IDE controller do a test setup of
XP see what happens. Give that a try. Now on my other
mother which is a P4C800 Deluxe Asus I was having that
same issue trying to setup a Raid on the SATA controller
and did everythings. Setup process with fine but hung after
rebooting. So I ended up updating the BIOS on that brd
and it fixed it. But try that, or maybe possible could be your
brd maybe.
