were you not prompted to remove the program from the list after the
uninstallation failed? if not, you need to manually edit the registry. just
as a note: do not delete anything out of your program files folder, the
proper way to remove programs is via add/remove programs in control panel.
most applications have associated uninstaller files that usually reside in
their program files folder and, if deleted, the uninstallation will fail.
after removing the program with add/remove programs, you may then go delete
its folder in program files.
anyway, open regedt32 via start>run "regedt32" and navigate to the key
hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\curr ent version\uninstall -
there will be several subkeys, each of which represent an "installed"
program. just find the subkey that corresponds to the name of your program,
right click it and select 'delete'. if you cannot find a key with the
program's name, then it may be one of the top ones with weird names like
{99984-dssly3478-slioholl...}(which are guid's that identify the program),
if so, then you will have to select each one individually and look at the
value in the right pane called "display name" - this value represents the
program's display name in add/remove programs. once you find the key with
the proper display name, delete the key as stated above (do not simply
remove the value, as this will not remove the program from add/remove
programs, it will just replace its display name with the program's guid).
hope this helps,
