hi I'm tiger and I desperately need help. I am preparing
for college this fall and I am required to have windows
xp pro or windows xp 2000,I have the hardware program on
this computer but it is not on the computer I will be
taking to school. I was wondering if there was anyway I
could download or extract the windows xp program from
this computer to possibly a cd-rom disk for downloading
onto my computer for school. please help me. I have a
month left to get all this stuff set-up so please assist
me in my plea of desperation!!!!!!!!!

You need to visit the nearest store that sells computers and/or software
and purchase the "upgrade version" of Windows XP Professional.
Any other questions?

What you want is not possible, and if it was, it would be
illegal. Windows is licensed for 1 computer at a time
(corporate and site licenses are exceptions of course);
meaning you can't have it on your home computer and on a
2nd computer for college at the same time.
As a student you may be able to get a student license at a
discounted rate, tho you probably wouldn't know if you
could at your specific college/university till you get
there (or you could call ahead).
Otherwise, like Nicholas stated, go to your local store,
and buy Windows XP (if you have an existing version of
Windows on there, the upgrade version is all you need, if
it has no Windows yet, then you'll need to buy the full
version).

www.jandr.com used to sell the student edition of these OS's. I don't know
if they still do. You used to have to provide proof that you were a student
like school ID, etc.
They were a LOT cheaper than going into a store and purchasing them. There
are several sites that sell the student edition, but all require proof that
you are one in order to get the student price. Your college may sell them
at a very reduced rate so check with them. You can also purchase OEM
versions, cheaply at half the price of retail, to go on your school computer
(hardware purchase required). College is expensive but don't do anything
illegal that could get you into trouble.
