View Full Version : lost printer driver when computer shuts down

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why I must keep re-installing my
(USB) HP psc 1210xi (3 in 1) printer driver locally on Windows XP (home)
when the computer is shut down and restarted? I have the latest driver
version. No errors are given, Windows just can't find it. And it works again
upon re-install. I also share it with my network.

My friends computer does the very same thing and his is running the HP
Officejet G series (3 in 1) same operating system and installed locally and
then shared across his network.

Is it something that I am not doing correctly when installing? Or is it an
established error that microsoft has a fix for?

Thanks in advance.

I'd call HP on this one - esp. as you say your friend is having similar
problems with another HP printer.

Thank you for pointing me to the HP site. That is where i found the fix.
Evidently, XP Home edition sometimes doesn't install the correct version of
the USB driver for the HP printer. The driver that has the AA letters after
it sometimes loses its communication, so to make it work correctly, HP says
to update the driver to the AB version or above. Also, just changing the
driver to the PCI to USB bus steering works. It did for me. Thanks again.
