I am a new user to XP, and have found that in OE i am
unable to spell check emails. The option is there in
Tools, but is a dull grey, meaning it cannot actually be
selected. Anyone know how to overcome this ludicrous
situation???

I also find that I often do not have the option to open
attachments in OE, and have to open them via the Hotmail
website.

Click on "S" and scroll down to the SPELL area

If O.E. won't open attachments, click its TOOLS menu|OPTIONS.
Under the Security tab, UNcheck "do not allow attachments
to be saved or opened..."
