Always get "new programs found" note, no new programs installed

Hi,

Constant annoyance, everytime I click "start",
then "programs", I get the "new programs found" bubble,
and it highlights old programs. I even click them to
open them, but the highlights don't go away. Rebooting
the system doesn't help.

Try this: Rightclick on the taskbar and select Properties. Select 'Start
Menu' tab and click Customize... button. On the resulting window select
Advanced Tab and uncheck 'Highlight newly installed programs' and click OK.
