This is the most annoying problem. All program files I download from
the internet get a .pcx extension added to them on my computer. This
prevents me from being able to install them. It would look like this
*netscape.exe.pcx* It's not like I can tell my computer what program
opens an exe file, so I don't believe it's an association problem. Any
ideas? I would greatly appreciate help!!

Sounds like you have AntiVirus or Firewall software renaming any .exe's you
Download from the net.
Odd tho..a .PCX file is PC-PaintBrush software.
Be sure that they are Virus free and simply rename the netscape.exe.pcx to
netscape.exe
Give rename a try.

I'm guessing that you downloaded and installed some type of
download manager or accelerator...that program is using
/adding the pcx extension.

Good call Jim,
Go to Start/Settings/Control Panel/ Add or Remove Programs/
Browse the list of installed programs and see if there is something similar
to what Jim has mentioned here.
If you don't want it...Uninstall it.

Okay, thanks, I found a download manager. I removed it. (it was an
ADOBE program) I rebooted. I tried another download. It still adds
pcx (MS Picture It) to the file extension, and no way to open file.
BIG SIGH.....
