usb port not recognizing wingman extreme

my wingman extreme, which worked fine previously, will
not work now. I reinstalled the cd, but when i plug in
the wingman to my usb port, it does not recognize it so I
can re-calibrate it. I did an unstall and reinstall on
my usb in safe mode. thank you for any help, im going
nuts.
