In the last few days (think since last Windows update) everytime I open
Yahoo Messenger....I get this windows message that an update should be
installed
immediately to address a security vulnerability. But when I hit yes...it
comes back "Update Failed".
What do I do?

I would uninstall Yahoo messenger and install the latest version.
This should fix you up.

Hi,

That failed because you did not have administrative
rights on your pc to change the registry. login as
administrator and you will be able to do that.

As mentioned, your account needs to belong to the administrator group to
install software. Just wanted to add that you should examine that update
message very carefully. If it is coming from the YM program interface (a
popup message designed to notify about updates) - fine. You should be able
to download that update by visiting their download page as well as through
the program interface. However, if that is a message from a source that you
cannot identify - avoid it! It may not be legitimate.
