slow bootup

My new PC with XP is very slow to boot up. I needed to re-
install XP (for more reasons that time permits) but since
then the boot up can take minutes to load. I did not
format the drive just a re-install. I was told that XP
can run upto 4 Operating Systems so I am thinking that
this is the primary cause. Does anyone know if this is
true and if so, how can I rectify the problem.
