I had the same problem after reinstalling winXP without
formatting first.
Reinstalled again...but this time..formatted the drive
and XP runs like hell.
I think if you just reinstall over the original, it's
more like a 'repair' then a new installation.
Never heard that XP can run up to 4 OS versions, but you
can install other versions on different partitions.
I run win98 and win2003server next to winXP.
