Hi,

I bought an IBM Hitachi Deskstar 7K250 120GB Ultra ATA/100 7200RPM to
replace my 60GB WD JB drive. When trying to install XP, I create a 30 GB
partition for the OS and XP proceeds to opy the needed install files.
However, upon the first reboot, I get the following error:

"Error loading operating system".

I've tried re-installing several times but always end up
with the same error. ANyaone got any ideas what could be
causing this error ?

I'm using a SN85G4 with an Athlon64 3000+ and everything
works fine with the 60GB drive.

I am not familiar with that hardware ("SN85G4" = AMD Duron CPU?
"Athlon 64" = Motherboard?) but according to Microsoft Knowledge Base
Article KB326676, "This issue may occur if your computer BIOS does not
correctly manage or support the capacity of the hard disk on which you
are installing Windows XP." For more information see:

KB326676 - "Error Loading Operating System" Error Message When You
Restart Your Computer During Setup
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?Product=winxp&scid=kb;en-us;326676

And if that does not help you may want to try posting in a newsgroup
devoted to AMD hardware such as:

alt.comp.hardware.overclocking.amd
alt.comp.hardware.amd.thunderbird
alt.comp.hardware.amd.x86-64

To find a particular group using Google, type the name of that group
