View Full Version : My guilty conscience

My hard drive recently crashed and I was thus forced to
purchase a new one. I brought it home and set it up but I
soon realized a problem in setting up my OS. I realized
that years back I bought my computer with win95 already
installed and then proceeded to upgrade... well now I
have the product key for a 95 but no CD while I have the
cd for 98 upgrade and XP home upgrade... So I did a bad
thing... I went and borrowed my friends Windows XP
intending to place my legit key instead of his and in my
rush to just get back to the internet didn't realize the
copy he gave me was for professional... So I installed it
and now I can't replace it with my legit XP home edition.
OR can I??? What do I do???

Reformat, then install the XP Home Edition disk. When it asks for =
verification, insert the 98 upgrade disk and follow the onscreen =
instructions.

This info is actually in the small manual that comes with the XP =
installation disk.

If you did an upgrade install and kept your previous OS to
allow rollback, removal of XP will be an option in
add/remove software (control panel) and then you can use
your purchased XP Home CD.
