We have a Pentium IV Win 98 computer. All programs
within are Win 98 programs. We want to save the data -
wipe the disk clean - reinstall the Win 98 programs (ie:
Corel Draw 9; Corel Word Perfect 9; Adobe; Office 2000;
etc., etc.) and go on with our business.

Can this be done? What are the "problems" involved. etc.

Thank you

You should be able to upgrade to XP with the information supplied with the
links listed below BEFORE you dump Win 98.

All your programs listed here appear to work OK on Win XP. You should go to
Windows XP home page at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/default.asp to
check out if your system is OK to use with XP. Go through all 4 steps
listed at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/howtobuy/upgrading/default.asp. Also
make sure you run the Windows Upgrade Advisor (step 3) which will check all
hardware and software on the computer to see if it is compatible with XP.
This is the most overlooked step and causes the most problem with any
computer OS update.

Good Luck with your update.

It is highly likely that a P 4 will meet the requirements to have XP
installed. There is an upgrade adviser here
