How does one disable the system beep?

Unplug the system speaker inside the case.......or if it comes out of the
external speakers double click on the volume icon (little speaker) on the
system tray. If the PC Speaker is visible click on mute. If it is not
visible click on Options then Properties and scroll down to the PC speaker
line and then check it to turn the option on then click OK. Once Ok is
clicked, the PC Speaker can be muted.

Click control panel, sounds speech and audio drivers, sounds and audio
devices,
click the sounds tab and select the event and sound desired. Choose none to
disable for that particular event.

If Chuck is asking what I'm thinking- its not any of these- its the system
beep during startup- which on my system is about 3 times louder than what I
have set for my system volume when XP is loaded.
It would be nice if it was not so darn loud- it wakes the dead!
