DVD ROM Not Registering

I have 2 CD drives - a Sony DDU1621 DVD ROM and a DVD
Burner (it makes no difference what type. I tried several,
DVD and CD with the same result). The Sony drive is simply
not seen. When I go to the Control
Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager and click on the re-
scan, it shows up and from then on works well. But after
the boot-up it disappears again and I have to repreat the
procedure to be able to access it.
It seems to be the Sony drive only that does it. I am sure
I have the latest driver from Microsoft, Sony does not
seem to support their device with drivers (at least I
can't find it). Any ideas?

Hello

Here is an option have it replaced have you considered that, maybe
the drive is (bad or intermitting) just replace and see if the same
thing
happen with a new drive.
