I installed a new 250GB HD in a USB 2.0/Firewire external
drive case, hooked up to the firewire card in my PC.
Windows XP recognized the drive fine as a 230+GB drive,
and had not problem formatting it as a single partition--
except that at the end of the format (both quick and full)
it says that an error occurred and the format process did
not complete. The drive appears to be perfectly usable
however and appears as a 230+GB drive within Explorer and
the Disk Manager.
I am working with XP Home SP1 with the updated ATAPI.SYS
file and a newly updated BIOS.
What caused the error? Should I be concerned?
