hi i built a new system with a logitech cordless
comfort duo (mouse and kybd)

athlon xp 2600+
asus a7v8x-x
1 gb ram
win xp sp 1

the problem:
the keyboard functions in the boot up process, i can use
it to alter bios settings, etc. when xp loads, there is
no keyboard in the device manager, and the mouse works
fine. when you press a key on the keyboard, both the
mouse and keyboard freeze, forcing a manual reset. the
mouse/kybd work fine on 2 other machines. the kybd works
on this machine with a ps/2 track ball, or a serial mouse.
the bios are up to date, as are the software drivers for
the mouse and keyboard. i dont think the mobo
is 'defective', as it is the second one (of the same
type) that i have tried. can anybody help?
thanks
bob

I'm no expert but you might Have to use stander drivers for your mouse and
key board under xp.
Xp can be a real pain with some devices like my own key board it works great
under windows 98se or windows me with hp's drivers, but xp would sooner
upchuck then run them.
