refreshing removable storage

I can't seem to refresh the devices with removable
storage in my computer section using winxppro. The cdrom
drive always reads the last cd i had in until i reboot.
I tried pressing the refresh button and closing and
opening my computer, but nothing.
Is there any way to fix this?
