how do im make sure my computer is using both proccesors,
and is there any way of setting xp to use both? What
software can I download that will check that both are
being used. Can anyone tell me how windows divides tasks
to each proccessor?

A good shortcut to Task Manager is to press Ctl-Shift-Esc. Check the
Performance tab, there will be a CPU Usage History for each processor.
Windows will divide the tasks as best as possible but for a single app to
take advantage of both it must have been written to do this. On the
Processes tab of Task Manager you can force what processor a process runs on
by Right-Clicking the process and choosing "Set Affinity...". I personally
would recommend letting Windows set this for you, it does a good job at
managing this.
