I just had Microsoft home installed on my computer at home
and I can't find Microsoft word, powerpoint or excel.
Does this program contain these products? Do I need to
purchase Microsoft XP Professional to gets these products?
Thanks!

Hello Melissa
Win XP Hm or Win XP Pro does not come with any of those
programs ok, you will have to go out and purcahse them from your
computer store, OfficeMax, BestBuy, etc or even online. Those
are seperate programs that you have to pay for.

And you won't either!

No, and XP isn't a program per se, but rather an operating system, on =
which you can run programs.

XP Professional is also an operating system, with just a few more =
advanced features (mainly security) than Home has, and does not have =
Office products with it. You need to purchase and install Microsoft =
Office XP (2000 is cheaper, still available, and supported too). You =
would need to purchase the "Standard" version of OfficeXP to get the =
office programs you listed. Keep in mind, that no Office product has =
ever been part of any Windows operating systems, as they a totally =
separate products.

No. You need Microsoft Office XP. It contains all
the applications you mentioned. It's pretty expensive
though. You might be able to purchase just what you
need separately.

Greetings --
Neither the Microsoft Office application suite, nor any of its
individual component applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
Outlook, etc.), have _ever_ been "part" of *any* Windows operating
system. They are, and always have been, separate applications, that
must be purchased and installed separately.

Bruce, get your pillocking words right, will you!=20
Those applications DO NOT have to be purchased and installed separately. =
They can be purchased bundled as in OfficeXP Standard (which has =
PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word). You'd have this poor girl buying =
separate pieces of Office software at an enormous cost!

Purchasing the programs separately would be much more expensive, than =
buying them bundled in an Office Suite.

Obviously, "Ted", as I suggested in my response to
the OP, it's a balance between the cost of buying
the whole package of applications and the cost of
just the applications you need, purchased separately.
And, considering your reputation in this group, I
will not be continuing this discussion.

You gormless ****! She specifically cited 3 apps, PP, Word, and Excel, =
and your idea to have her buy them separately, would only be the =
suggestiong of a fiscal ****wit, such as yourself!
