I am the only user (and thus administrator) on my computer.
Before my computer froze, I added an accent to my User
Name, and upon restarting it, I can not replicate it at
sign in. I'm not sure that I even know the password,
anyway. I have term papers due on Monday so I'm in a SUPER
MESS! Please help!!!

Would the ordinary welcome screen be the one with the log
on or the one shown while Windows is booting up - cause
neither work for me. Also, at log on, no characters show
on the screen when I type but the CPU makes an internal
beep. What does this mean?

My welcome screen doesn't have a picture next to my name.
I guess it looks just like old log on screen. And the
restart x2 isn't working. AHHHH!!! Frustrated. Anyway, I
really appreciate your help on this.

By the way, what is your username? if you try to enter as administrator, is it locked? If yes then what happened to the password on this account? given that you created an account the integrated administrator account should just be untouchable.

The biult in administrator account is accessible by pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL twice consecutively at log on. If you're using the ordinary welcome screen.

So if you haven't blocked the administrator built in account, then you can log through it.

Go ahead and try

The welcome screen is the one where you have your username and a picture on its left, with an arrow that you can click to log in. When you have more than one user account in a machine it is where windows Xp stops. If press CTRL-ALT-DEL(2x), pressing the de
lete key twice without releaseng the first two keys, a pop up dialog box shoul appear and let you change the user name to administrator and go ahead.
