help meeeeeee. sound card

my comp all of a sudden says i have no sound card. i
turned it on today and it popped up with that help me
please

I am new to all of this and I am truly frustrated with
this damn computer now. I had to reformat my computer a
while back and since then, I cannot get any sound to work
on it. I checked the system information and under the
hardware category it states "null" where there once was
sound card info. For the life of me, I am not sure what
to do now. Please HELP. I would be forever grateful.
